Sheet inscribed "Parques Nacionales 2006" and "Isla del Coco Costa Rica" in upper margin. Turtles on two stamps. Scientific name of each animal appears on each stamp and the Spanish common name appears in the sheet margin next to each stamp. Turtle's species name misspelled as "imbricaas".

180c 2006 Eretmochelys imbricata Single stamp w/ turtle from sheet of ten inscribed "Parques Nacionales 2006". Depicts adult swimming away from viewer, underwater. Species name of turtle is misspelled on stamp as "imbricaas".

180c 2006 Unidentified Sea Turtle Single stamp w/ turtle from sheet of ten inscribed "Parques Nacionales 2006". Stamp is in "h" position. Main design feature is a shark but the upper left corner has the posterior half of a turtle.

SC 1877 750f 28 Feb 01 Chelonia mydas S/S of six 750f stamps w/ a turtle on one. Inscribed "Vie Marine des Tropiques". Image of turtle extends into selvedge. This is Pane #2 of two Marine Life of the Tropics panes issued this date.

MI 2474 80 19 Jun 84 Tortoise Ship Stamp on stamp. This stamp depicts SC North Korea #2305a, as well as a more modern ship. Issued for XIX Weltpost Kongress, Hamburg, 1984. This is the single stamp from Scott North Korea #2381. Scott does not list the single stamp, only the s/s.

SC 2305 Various 30 May 83 Tortoise Ships s/s containing 4 stamps and 2 seals. Two of the 4 stamps show tortoise ships, which were 16th century ironclad warships of the Korean navy. Flags in sheet margin. This s/s was formerly listed on this site as North Korea MI BL 145. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 2305 a 20ch 30 May 83 Tortoise Ships One of the tortoise ship stamps from Scott North Korea 2305. This stamp was formerly listed on this site as North Korea MI 2367. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 2305 b 35ch 30 May 83 Tortoise Ships One of the tortoise ship stamps from Scott North Korea #2305. This stamp also depicts Admiral Li Sun Sin (1545-1598), the inventor of ironclad warships and the tortoise ships in particular. It was formerly listed on this site as North Korea MI 2368. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 2381 80 19 Jun 84 Tortoise Ship S/S of one stamp containing MI North Korea #2474. Issued for XIX Weltpost Kongress, Hamburg, 1984. This s/s was formerly listed on this site as North Korea MI BL 179 A. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 2801 40j 01 Jan 89 Mythological Turtle A 7th century mural w/ a Tortoise-serpent and a snake. May represent a dragon w/ a turtle's shell. Identical to the tortoise-serpent on other Korean stamps. This stamp was formerly listed on this site as North Korea MI 2985. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 3155 a 50j 24 Oct 92 Unidentified Sea Turtle Sheetlet of three 50j whale stamps w/ a sea turtle in border of sheet. This is Sheet II of two whale sheets issued on the same date. No turtles on stamps. Date has also been reported as 20 Oct 92. This sheet was formerly listed on this site as North Korea SG N 3211-13. This was before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 3274 50j 10 Sep 93 Carved Stone Turtle Tombstone of King Tongmyong in the form of a stone turtle. Stone doesn't look very much like a turtle on the stamp. It is a lateral view of the carapace.

SC 3274 var 50j 10 Sep 93 Carved Stone Turtle Maximum card and stamp w/ carved stone turtle near bottom right corner. Turtle is tomb of King Tongmyong and it doesn't look much like a turtle on the stamp. The card is not listed by Scott but the stamp on the card is Scott #3274, Thus I have listed the card as #3274 var (variety). Dimensions of card are 148 X 105 mm.

SC 3275 50j 10 Sep 93 Carved Stone Turtle S/S of one stamp with tombstone of King Tongmyong in the form of a stone turtle. Stone doesn't look very much like a turtle on the stamp. It is a lateral view of the carapace.

SC 3356 1.80 won 20 Jun 94 Tortoise Ship Stamp card (86 x 54 mm), w/ six airmail stamps (86 x 9 mm), each in the form of a horizontal strip w/ a tortoise ship on it. This card was formerly listed on this site as SG N 3411a, before Scott began listing North Korean stamps.

SC 3356 a-f 1.80 won 20 Jun 94 Tortoise Ship The six horizontal strip stamps on Scott North Korea #3356. Each one is assigned a suffix of "a" through "f". Some of the six stamps are identical to each other and once peeled off of the backing paper they would be impossible to distinguish.

All of the tortoises have scientific names under them in small print but almost every one of the tortoises is mis-named.

40000db 2006 Unidentified Tortoise Single stamp from s/s of one issued in 2006 w/ many tortoises. One tortoise facing left plus head of tortoise in upper left corner of stamp. On the stamp the tortoise is identified as Malacochersus tornieri but this is obviously incorrect. This is most certainly not a pancake tortoise.

Various 2006 Numerous Species S/S of four stamps and four stamp-like labels, all w/ one or two chelonians. Labels have Boy Scout logo, stamps do not. Several of the chelonians are mis-identified on the stamps and labels.

SC 451 1.30f 03 Feb 06 Sculpted Tortoises Celestial sphere, a sculpture by artist Paul Manship at the UN headquarters in Geneva. The sphere is supported by four tortoises that are difficult to discern on the stamp because the image is a hologram and therefore not sharp. Pictures of the sphere from other sources clearly show that the small figures are tortoises. Stamp inscribed "Salutations des Nations Unies". UN symbol in upper left corner. Pictures of the sphere from other sources (e.g. - www.celestialsphere.ch) clearly show that the small figures are tortoises.
